| PrimeTravels is the leading travel company from
India offering a complete range of travel services. Prime Travels
had been operating as an offline travel agency for almost 6 years
before they decided that they also wanted to tap into the exponentially
growing Internet audience. They called upon Icreon to secure real
time transactions for flights, hotels, car rentals and the development
of a travel portal. The decision to go online was a natural extension
for a successful travel company. |

| Prime Travels was a successful travel company but
they wished to plan their Internet presence in a very phased out manner.
Prime was well aware of the number of travel companies coming up on
the Internet and hence they wanted Icreon to adopt an Strategy which
was completely phased out and scalable. At the same time the solution
was required to be comprehensive enough so that it did not put off
genuine travelers due to lack of information or functionality. The
challenge for Icreon was to develop a scalable strategy; considering
that this was Icreon's first travel client this meant a lot of ground
work and research was required to be put in before an effective solution
could be developed. |

primetravels.com was launched with a basic version
CRS powered by Amadeus, a small destination database and lots of content.
Some generic non-commercial content was also made available on the
site ( such as visa guidelines , currency converter, passport guidelines,
whether information etc. ) to increase the usefulness of the website.
Customer touch points were well spread around the site. Functionality
included a member registration system and a search facility through
the database backing the site. The site was promoted extensively on
various search engines and soon started generating business for the
client. Since then the site has gone through two major development
upgrades offering enhanced functionality aimed to increased the customer
experience on primetravels.com. Upgrades included development and
integration of banner management module, alliance tracking module,
administrative modules to update the destination database etc. A fully
customized CRS solution from Abacus to provide real time online reservations.
A payment gateway from ICICI was also integrated to make primetravels.com
a truly transaction backed site.
The solution has helped prime improve operational efficiency, increase
asset utilization, reduce distribution costs, and build long-lasting
relationships with customers and employees. |

| We used JSPs as the presentation layer and a series
of Java utility classes and beans in the middle layer that talk to
the database. This design is shown as follows. |

| The solution involves online interaction with the
Abacus CRS for getting the flight's availability status and booking
them. For the most optimum solution the whole system is been developed
on Java SDK platform using JSPs, Servlets & java beans supported
by Jrun server. SQL-Server serves as the back-end with XML as the
communication language between Client, Server and Abacus API wherever
required. |
