| The client is the only and the largest company
that organizes betting for horse racing events. The client now
wanted to develop an online solution that would allow people interested
in betting to see the ever-changing odds of the race online. The
visitor would then be able to see the past history of the results
in racing, the current racing results as well as the expected
results of forthcoming races. |

| The odds and dividends were being generated
by a mini computer and could vary each 10 seconds. So a system
was needed to update the data online on web-server as soon as
the data changes on mini computer and let the user see the latest
figures, which could be very crucial for betting purpose. Further
the client sent across all documents that were in French, which
made the initial working a little difficult. |

| A desktop application was developed to run
on minicomputer, the solution keeps track of the changes in the
offline data and as soon as any changes are detected, it synchronizes
the online data with the latest offline one. On the web server
user can see the odds and dividends of the races of his choice.
The users can also see the list of the horses participating in
the different races. A comprehensive admin module is also there
on site to refresh the list of horses. |

| The system is been built on Windows platform.
The website is been built in ASP and the desktop application has
been built in Visual Basic. The Data is being stored in text file
format, which has been synchronized with the desktop application
by the help of Windows native APIs. |

"To be honest I never thought we would be able to deliver on this project successfully. Firstly all communication was in French and even though I am fluent in both English and French it is not always possible to do literal translations. To add to this - development of the solution required that the programming team understand the complicated betting logic. I must say that here the project manager at Icreon did a fantastic job - her understanding of the process was very clear and she along with her development team delivered a solution was beyond our expectations.
