Disk Space
The disk space allotment refers to how much storage space you are
allowed on the server. The disk space can be used for all web
or database related files including HTML, databases, graphics, CGI
programs etc. Disk space can not be used as personal storage
or as a hard drive backup.
Data Transfer
Data Transfer (bandwidth) refers to the amount of data that can be
downloaded by visitors to your site. Given an average web page
size of 15k, 3GB of data transfer would be enough to allow for over
20,000 page downloads every month.
POP3 E-mail Accounts
A POP3 E-mail account provides a separate user name / password
access to an e-mail address within your domain. Example: a separate
user name and password that only retrieves mail sent to icreon@icreon.com.
E-Mail Forward
An e-mail forward is an address @yourdomain.com that gets routed
by our mail server to a destination outside of yourdomain.com.
For example aces@icreon.com going to acesfight@aol.com would be
considered an e-mail forward.
If the address is being routed to an address within your domain, for
example superman@icreon.com going to batman@icreon.com, then
an alias and not a forward is required.
E-Mail Aliases
An e-mail alias allows multiple addresses within a domain to deliver
e-mail to the same POP3 account. For example, an alias could
deliver mail sent to hostingsales@icreon.com to the sales@icreon.com
POP3 account.
By default anything@domain.com is automatically aliases to the domains
main e-mail account.
E-Mail Auto Responders
An auto responder instantly delivers an automated response as soon
as an e-mail is sent to a certain address. This is useful
for sending a price list, company information, or any other data -
automatically!
Web Based E-Mail Client
This features allows e-mail to be checked via a web based form similar
to Microsoft's Hotmail. WebMail makes it easy to check e-mail
from any location which has an internet connection.
E-Mail Lists
Mailing lists are powerful e-mail server run programs that
sends mail to many people at one time. They go beyond just a
standard group mailer in that there are many commands available for
list administration. To see all the options of mailing lists
read more about them within the Tech Support section of our Members
Center.
NOTE: E-mail lists can not be used to send UCE. (Unsolicited
SPAM) Any violation of our mass e-mail policy will result in
the immediate termination of your account.
FTP Accounts
FTP accounts make it possible to give restricted access to
an account. For example: icreon.com could assigned user "joe"
a password of "dog.' When joe FTP'ed to icreon.com with his
password of dog it would take him directly into the icreon.com/joe/
dir. Joe would not be able to gain access to the main Icreon
files just his own. These accounts can be resold!
FTP Usage
FTP allows a user to upload / download from an account.
FTP is the most widely used means of uploading a web account.
FTP are included in the monthly bandwidth limit, however, there is
no restriction on the amount of FTP updates allowed.
Anonymous FTP
An anonymous FTP site provides upload/download access to any
user. All files will be stored in a directory within your account
that the public has access to. An anonymous FTP site can allows
for the ability to let your web users upload their own files, within
having to create them a secured FTP account.
mySQL Database
MySQL is a true multi-user, multi-threaded SQL database server.
SQL is the most popular database language in the world. MySQL
is a client/server implementation that consists of a server daemon
and many different client programs and libraries.
Pre-Installed "System CGI"
System CGI access allows you to take advantage of simple programs
that have been pre-installed on the server for easy usage. Rather
than installing a custom program within the cgi-bin and reading
all the documentation required to make it work, system cgi allows
you to copy and paste a line of HTML to take advantage of what our
system administrators have already installed.
Java Script
Java Script is markup language that embedded into HTML files
that can bring a static page to life. Color changing text could
be an example of a simple java script.
Java Applets
Java Applets are small programs coded in java. Applets
are many times used for small chat rooms, simple games, etc.
Java applets download onto the client machine and run from the client
computer.
FrontPage 2000 Web Bots
FrontPage Web bots are included with the extremely popular
Microsoft FrontPage web authoring program. Web bots provide
the same abilities of many CGI scripts and are extremely easy to integrate
into a web site. FrontPage Extensions must be installed before
Web bots will function correctly.
Private CGI-BIN
A CGI-BIN allows for the executing of custom programs which
you might find on the internet or programs you might design yourself.
Perl and the base CPAN modules are provided by default on our UNIX
systems.
PHP 3.0
PHP Version 3.0 is an HTML-embedded
scripting language. Much of its syntax is borrowed from C, Java and
Perl with a couple of unique PHP-specific features thrown in. The
goal of the language is to allow web developers to write dynamically
generated pages quickly.
Server Side Compiling
Included with our UNIX Developer plans is the ability to have
our Technical Staff install additional programs on the particular
Red Hat server you are hosted on. We will have to review the
software beforehand, of course, and please be sure to supply us with
all the details we'll need to successfully complete the task.
This ability covers all installations which take less than one half-hour-
(usually it takes less than five minutes for such things). Tasks
taking additional time will fall into our $60 per hour custom server
installation policy.
Shockwave Support
Shockwave content
delivers interactive, compelling content and breaks through the monotony
of static web sites. Included in the shockwave series of tools
is Flash, used to stream a multimedia presentation from the server
to the clients computer.
Real Media Streaming
All of our servers are setup to enable any real content to be streamed via the
web server. Real media is the standard for delivering audio
or video presentations via the web.
MIDI Files Support
MIDI is the current standard for embedded sound in web pages.
MIDI is supported by all modern web browsers.
SSL Support
SSL (Secure Socket Layers) is a must for any web site that will
be used for the submission of any sensitive data including: credit
cards, passwords, personal information, etc. We own and maintain
certificates through Thawte (Supported
by both Internet Explorer and Netscape 4.0, 4.5, and 5.0 version browsers)
which enable secure connections to be made with a recognized certificate
authority. In other words your browser will not pop up with
multiple warning messages about security risks when connected
to the secure site. Our SSL sites are configured to be used
with: secure-orders.net, an anonymous domain.
Web Based Shopping Cart
Included with every account is a web based shopping cart.
This web shopping cart allows products to be added and customers to
browse and order all via the web.
FrontPage 2000 Support
Microsoft FrontPage® 2000 is a web site creation
and management tool that provides tools needed to create and manage
web sites. Because it works like the rest of Microsoft Office
Premium, FrontPage 2000 is easy to learn and use.
Custom 404 / Not Found
Custom 404 / Not Found pages allow webmasters to customize
the page that visitors see when they try an access a page that doesn't
exist on the server.
Sub Domains
Our accounts allow you to purchase unlimited sub domains (www.domain.com/abc/
= www.abc.com).
Vanity Domains
Our accounts allow you to purchase unlimited vanity domains
(www.domain.com/abc/ = abc.domain.com).
E-mail Response Within 24 Hours
Icreon assures you that you will never be more than 24 hours
away from help with any question you may have - billing, sales, and
of course technical. Although 24 hours is our guaranteed response
time, average response time is much quicker. (Usually within
three hours.)
OC-3 MAE-WEST Connections
Our data center is located in the same building as the MAE-WEST
backbone! Very few of our competitors can even come close to
matching this strategic data center placement. Our Network is
connected to MAE-WEST with multiple OC-3's. An OC-3 connection
is about 100X faster than a single T-1 and 3X faster than a T-3.
100BaseT Redundant Network
Aside from being strategically located in the same building
as the MAE-WEST backbone, our network boasts top of the line, modern
equipment. We use Cisco 7500 routers, Cisco Catalyst switches,
and high quality Cat5 network cabling. The data center is protected
by battery backups as well as a building wide power generator in the
unlikely event of a complete power failure.
Dual CPU's
Our servers are configured with dual CPU architectures to
provide more system performance when it's critically needed.
We use PII, PII XEON, PII, and PIII Xeon CPU's.
Redundant (RAID Array) Storage
All of our servers our built with performance and reliability
in mind. We use Ultra Wide SCSI hard drives in RAID sets.
RAID not only increases server performance, but also protects against
hard drive failure. Even if a single disk does die, it the RAID
will keep going keeping the server completely unaffected.
24/7 Network Monitoring
Does this sound familiar: Sunday night your web site goes
down - nobody's at your ISP to work on it until the next day?
Over 12 hours of down time! At Icreon on-site staff monitors
our network 24 hours a day 7 days a week. In addition all servers
and services are monitored by multiple monitoring tools and will page
system administrators at the first sign of trouble. If there
is ever a problem you can rest assured that is is being addressed.
Detailed On-Line Billing
You will always know exactly what you are being billed for,
and your charges will be available on-line 24/7. With our detailed
on-line billing system you will only be a few clicks away from statements,
history, and current bills.
